With a diploma in travel and tourism, I have always been interested in finding economical ways to travel. An avid back packer, there are two loves in my life- Food and Beer. New Delhi the capital of India, with its historical monuments, architectural wonders and shopping places promises to be a great holiday location as it has something to offer to everyone. The right choice of place to stay during a holiday goes a long way to making it enjoyable and memorable. And Delhi does not disappoint as it has it all from luxury brand hotels and boutique hotels offering a host of comforts, amenities and luxuries to discount hotels, lodges and guest houses that offer value for money along with a blend of hospitality, service and ambience. There are a number of budget hotels in Delhi close to the airport and railway station, which offer travel weary tourists the opportunity to quickly check-in and relax rather than spend any more time commuting. Discount hotels in Delhi offer impeccable service, chic décor and traditional hospitality. Some even offer amenities that rival the more expensive hotels such as massages, health centers and spas. From Nehru Place to Naraina and Patparganj to East of Kailash, you can find a discount hotel which would suit your budget and requirements. Delhi has a number of tourist attractions such as the Bahai temple – Notable for its flowerlike shape, Akshardham temple – which displays millennia of traditional Hindu and Indian culture, spirituality, and architecture, Jantar Mantar – An ancient observatory with striking combinations of geometric forms at large scale, Qutab Minar – The highest stone tower in India and many more. For the shopping enthusiasts, Delhi has a number of up-market malls in places like Saket, Vasant Kunj etc featuring most of the popular international and domestic brands. Those looking for souvenirs must visit the local Janpath market or the Sarojini Nagar market. Traveling locally in Delhi has become very convenient with the advent of the Delhi Metro which connects most major commercial, residential areas as well as the New Delhi Railway Station and with the addition of the Airport Express line you can now travel directly and comfortably from the New Delhi Railway Station to the Delhi International Airport in less than 40 mins with its highly efficient and dependable service. The city is famous for its street foods like Dahi Bhalla, Chat Papri to Choley Bhaturey to the local favorite ‘Butter Chicken’ and ‘Kadai Paneer’. Local delicacies aside, there is ample choice of world cuisines from Lebanese to Italian and French to American as well. The best time to visit this beautiful metropolitan city is from October to March when there is an air of festivity as a number of important festivals are celebrated with aplomb during this period. So don’t wait anymore, just book your hotel, strike a deal and don’t forget to take a big bag along to bring back lots of souvenirs!
